Pace understands these jobs require advanced social skills along with our customary vigilance. Staff must be articulate, smart in appearance, and able to deal well with people. Some positions require even more refined abilities. Gallery assistants, for example, need to read visitors’ body language. They must handle potential problems--from excitable groups of children to difficult adults--with calm authority.

Because visitor services staff interacts so extensively with the public, we place added emphasis on the selection, presentation and training of these employees. A large number of our people are experienced in, and enthusiastic about, working in this sector.
